About this mantra

The Vajra Guru mantra is associated with Guru Rinpoche, or Padmasambhava, whose role in the transmission of Buddhism to Tibet is foundational in Tibetan Buddhist history.

Different traditions explain the mantra at several levels. For a general reader, the safest approach is to understand it as a devotional mantra connected with Guru Rinpoche, blessing, remembrance and practice rather than as a formula promising guaranteed worldly results.

How to approach listening

You can listen attentively, use the recording alongside quiet meditation, or simply become familiar with the sound of the mantra. If you are undertaking a formal Vajrayana practice, follow the instructions of the teacher and lineage from which you received it.

Avoid exaggerated claims. Tibetan Buddhist traditions contain rich explanations of mantra, but this site does not present mantra listening as a guaranteed cure, protection mechanism, or substitute for medical or professional care.
