About this mantra

Om Mani Padme Hum is among the best-known mantras associated with Tibetan Buddhism. It is linked with Chenrezig, the bodhisattva of compassion, and is recited widely across Himalayan Buddhist cultures.

Its depth is explained differently across Tibetan traditions, but compassion is central to nearly every presentation. It is suitable for introductory listening while deeper contemplative explanations are best learned from qualified sources.

How to approach listening

You can listen attentively, use the recording alongside quiet meditation, or simply become familiar with the sound of the mantra. If you are undertaking a formal Vajrayana practice, follow the instructions of the teacher and lineage from which you received it.

Avoid exaggerated claims. Tibetan Buddhist traditions contain rich explanations of mantra, but this site does not present mantra listening as a guaranteed cure, protection mechanism, or substitute for medical or professional care.
